Definitions
What is counseling and Psychotherapy?
When you are new to the counseling process, the different terms seem confusing, but they all refer to the process of meeting with a trained professional to help you manage personal concerns.
Counselor
A counselor has training in counseling theory and skills and usually conducts short to medium term work for problem solving and decision making.
Clinical Social Worker
A Clinical Social Worker is trained in counseling skills as well as social work theory and practice. They hold a degree in Social Work.
Psychotherapist
A Psychotherapist is also trained in counseling skills and theory, but generally work in greater depth.
Psychiatrist
A Psychiatrist is a medically trained professional who offers treatment which often includes medication and/or a referral for therapy.
What is the Kindred Collective?
The Kindred Collective is a online membership group for Black women who want to disrupt the patterns of poverty that keep you stuck in your life. The group provides one on one personal development sessions along with guides and resources that give you everything you need to begin your healing journey with confidence.
